Stolen Prisoner shirt, a chocolate car, and more Favre drama May 5, 2009

The last couple of days have been spent working on some end of the semester papers…so Ive been slacking on my blog…Its kinda hard to get motivated to write even more, even if it is for fun.  As of tonight I am done! I think…

Ahh the ingenuity! When you hear someone of going green..i bet you dont think of chocolate!  Scientists have created a new racecar that will go 145mph that is made of plant fiber, soybean foam, and runs on oil and chocolate…yes thats right chocolate.  The car is almost edible!

Ahh the yearly Favre speculation begins yet again. And here I thought I would actually get to avoid the talks this year, but nope…cause Favre got his release from the Jets and is going to talk to Minnesota about a possible comeback. Give me a break!  Yes Minnesota would be likely to take him, but any team that even considers it has to be insane at this point, cause at the end of next season, he will retire, change his mind, change teams, and decide to play again. Im actually glad the Packers stuck to their decision last year and shipped him off to the Jets. Thats not to say Im not a fan, but I happen to like my team more then 1 player…and if that 1 player isnt going to help, then do what you gotta do. The only thing that is even more frustrating to me right now is that the stock on my autographed Favre ball is not exactly rising here!  Make up your mind Favre! Oh and to the NFL source who thinks Favre is coming back to get revenge for not being released by the Packers….grow up! Are we in Junior High again? When someone in their 30s is deciding his/her future based on revenge scenarios then you know something is extremely wrong!

A 20 year olf California man was locked up after being charged with stealing a Prisoner t-shirt form the county jail. He was previously charged with felony possession and child abuse, and after being released from jail he was seen riding his bike wearing his Prisoner t-shirt and re-arrested and charged with recieving stolen property.  How is it recieving stolen property. He was issued it and simply stole it…he didnt recieve it after it was stolen!  I guess I need to brush up on my criminal law again! Its been awhile since Ive read the statutes…Oh well…In my eyes if he wanted to announce to the world that he was a Prisoner, then let him, cause I guarentee people would have avoided him!

Random google search of the day that led to my blog…”to find a theif by vodoo[sic]” …yes my voodoo ways are becoming mainstream apparently!

Post Draft Update, Fox v. Obama, and the newest form of economic protest April 27, 2009

Well for a Post Draft update…my beloved Packers actually did well!  I am happy with the overall draft, although I do admit to a minor heart attack when Thompson traded up for a 2nd 1st round pick!  I thought hell had frozen over cause that was certainly unexpected…after all his trademark draft policy is trade down for more picks…oh well.  It was fun to listen to all my friends panic when Cleveland kept trading down…and then of course there was the perpetual name pronunciations which just got even funnier when Bobby got a little drunk and couldnt say any name…so I sent him and Jessie some nice long Hawaiian names to try, which was even funnier! Oh well, overall the draft was kinda odd but still predictable…Oakland was crazy, Minnesota hasnt truly learned the lesson that talent doesnt outway personal issues, and the Patriots continued to master the trade down tactics and manipulate their way into multiple draft picks in this year and next years draft.

Wow! Can Fox get anymore partison? Oh yes they can…Fox Broadcasting Company announced Monday it will not carry President Barack Obama’s prime time press conference marking his first 100 days in office, the first time a broadcast network has refused an Obama administration request for that valuable airtime. Yes it may be May Sweeps, but to have one of the big 4 media outlets decide not to air the coverage is kinda shocking…maybe Fox should become a CW, and do away with news all together…that wouldnt be a bad thing in my eyes!

Well its nice to see that the community is coming together in the trying times in Mexico…wait…you mean those people wearing surgical masks arent just protecting themselves and helping others? Wait…they robbed a watch store?! Oh well, guess humanity still has its issues…With a rise in the population of Mexico wearing surgical masks to help prevent against the Swine Flu, thief’s are taking advantage of the situation by robbing stores wearing the masks…thus disguising their appearance without looking conspicuous…Its not like merchants can tell the police…there in the blue surgical mask…cause the thief’s can just disappear into the masses..genius!

Wow, I knew the economy was tough, but in Serbia a union worker cut off his own finger in protest over overdue and unpaid wages. The worst part wasnt the cutting off of the finger…in demonstration as to how desperate he and others are, he ate his finger. Um…protest cannibalism as a way to show economic frustration? Have we really resorted to that drastic of measures?! Even I, who find cannibalism fascinating, am slightly disturbed by this new tactic…lets just hope it doesnt get picked up by the mainstream, or there will be alot of fingerless people running around.

Pre draft day happiness, gecko flu, and the great pirate debate April 24, 2009

Although I have class tomorrow (yes on a saturday…morning nonetheless)this weekend should be relaxing…as long as the Packers draft the players they need and dont do something stupid like draft a QB, then I will be relaxed. So until I get home tomorrow to watch the draft, I will be following it on my cell…not as fun or relaxing, but it should go unnoticed tomorrow since we only have presentations and I am done!

In case you live under a rock (or on one like me), there is a swine flu waging in Mexico…and according to Anderson Cooper in NYC.  And here in Hawaii we are worried abou H5N1 (aka Bird Flu)…no one ever thought about swine.  Hmm…maybe we should be worried about gecko flu too because we have a lot of those out here!  All joking aside, any kind of pandemic sucks!  Especially since its a relative shock and not completely expected from what I can grasp. Mexico did the right thing by shutting down schools an dpublic buildings, but there needs to be more and soon…Bates would be so proud of seeing me use my NIMS training and disaster management mindseet to analyze the problem!

Ha..my classroom pirate debates have gone to Petraeus…Jared have you been talking?! Since I am in a program with many military people, it is common to end up in discussions about random military things…like arming boats with cannons or massive gun turrets to prevent Somali pirate attacks…yes…we have those discussions.  I always fell on the side that arming the crew is a bad idea cause handing people with little training guns could lead to bad situations…But it looks like Petraeus and the military ae looking at such options…but they seem ot be leaning toward trained gaurds rather than the crew…maybe they see the same problem as me.  Should be interesting to see if any country recommends this approach to their shippers…and what the outcome will be!

Aww I want to adopt a wild mustang!  Can I?!?!  Please!!!!  A fedral agency is offering stipends to people who adopt the older wild mustangs from the range and offer them new homes…all to help combat the population boom that is occuring in the wild.  Eventually one day I will get me a house and I will be happy! Yes it only takes getting a horse to make me happy…ok…i tend to be easily appeased by small things like gum but a horse sounds good too!

Well Im off to help Stella set up the IloveStella.org website she just bought…check it out sometime in the future when she actually gets it operational!

Well I never thought Id see the day when the Chicago Bears would actually pay for a decent quarterback…but that day has come, and the NFC North will be even more competetive now…I hope my Packers can hang in there…especially with the new defense and a need for the offensive line to gel…we’ll see!

In more football news…Burress is no longer a Giant…It will be interesting to see how they draft…they need a new WR for sure. And Im happy to see the judge reject Vicks plan for repaying his debts…someone in the system is smart enough to ecognize that Vick may never play football again…although that doesnt seem to be the case for Vick himself….Maybe Oakland will take him…they sure are stupid enough to pay him the big bucks if they did!

Well…gay marriage is now allowed in Iowa…well as of the 24th it will be.  Im actually happy to see this happen…but am shocked that it actually occuring in Iowa of all places here in the US…maybe the American heartland isnt as Red as I thought it was…hmmm….having to reconsider my belief system…hmmm….

Well stupidity seems to continue in the world. A thief in Germany stole 68 tubes of toothpaste. Now Ive been mulling it over, trying to think why someone would need that much toothpaste…Ive come up with the obvious bad breath and dental hygiene issues, but Ive also taken the slightly more disturbing route of poisoning someone to death with flourine (although according to CSI 2 tubes would do the job…so mass killing with toothpaste?) and the ever fun toothpaste minty slip and slide…yes I know Im random and weird.

Well Im still sick, and so Im off to bed!

Contact Tvs, digital tattoos, and my irrational fear of tsunamis February 11, 2009

Did you miss your favorite tv show last night?  Dont have a DVR?  No where near a TV?  How about tv thats a contact!  Researchers have been working on a contact lens that is a tv.  Apparently it is powered off of your own body heat and will beam shows right before your eye…literally. As if this wasn’t futuristic enough, how about digital tattoos?! I know what you are thinking.  Why would anyone get a digitial tattoo instad of a real one with ink?  Or at least that was my thought.  But apparently digital tattoo is just a phrase, it really would allow wearers to literally feel the emotions that the move, music, etc wants you to feel. It is like a sensory manipulation chip….that may or  may not have a cool desgin! Alhough not in the manufacturing phase, some believe that in less then 10 years both option will be available.  I for one want a contact lens tv so that while in class I can watch Life and zone out on my professor.  J/K…kinda.

You know, I never really paid close attention to the earthquakes in Asia until I moved to Hawaii.  I mean I did read about them but there was no immediate concern flashing through my head as there is now.  Maybe its the Disaster class im currently taking, or maybe its knowing im on a tiny Island smaller than 1/2 the state of Ohio, but whenever I see or hear about an earthquake like the one in Indonesia my immediate thoughts flash to tsunami….Im not sure I would appreciate geting hit by a tsunami.  I may be higher up in the mountains and not on the beach, but it would still suck cause Honolulu airport is on the harbor and that would mean I would have no way off the island.  Im already getting island fever, and a tsunami wouldnt help.  Ok…i need to get off the tsunami thought train.

Gotta love Hawai’is addiction to the internet.  Not only can you have a doctors visit online now, but apparently the Honolulu City Council recently proposed the possibility of voting online.  Curently there is an investigation into reliability, and practicality of the voting options….i for one wouldn’t be surprised to see the option become a reality.   After all it would save money, trees, and be super cool!

As if the stuck Navy ship in the harbor isnt drama enough. In case you missed it, a naval cruise, Port Royal,  ran onto the reef in the Pearl Harbor area and got stuck.  No amount of unloading of materials helped re-float the ship and it is still stuck after multiple attempts to free it. The ships captain has been relieved of duties, and now the drama continues. Apparently the same cruiser failed to notify state officials that over 5000 gallons of raw sewage was released into the water. All I can say is that surfers may want to shower extra long and hard.

Sweet!  Cotton Candy is being used by scientists to regrow replacement tissue for people.  Missing skin, nerves, etc?  No problem!  Would you like bubble gum or fruit punch flavored replacements?

In case you missed the news.  Brett Favre has decided to retire..again.  Sorry Jets.  When you bought out the contract, you also bought the offseason drama.  We’ll see if in June he regrets his decision again.

The top ten reasons to thank President Bush December 30, 2008

Well the Packers went out with a victory which is better then nothing…however, the Vikings pulled out a win and the NFC North Championship…damn!  Oh well…Im not expecting them to survive round 1 of the playoffs…Go Philly!

So a recent article I read disturbed me a little…Condaleeza Rice believes that soon everyone will be thanking Bush for his service and the actions he took for the US…and doesnt believe that the US is disliked in the world, or that the Bush doctrine hurt the United States foreign policy approach for the future…Um…did an alien suck out her brain and replace it with mush? Well, granted Im sure someone someday will thank Bush for something…Im kinda doubting it will be anytime soon, or for the reasons she believes…granted we are at the end of the Bush years now, so my view may be tainted by recent events and propaganda from the media, but even then I am still betting her theory and beliefs are whack.  So to commemorate this belief, Ive decided to create the top 10 things to thank Bush for…

10) His African dancing…without it, John Oliver, John Stewart, and other comedians would be at a loss for comedic material.

9) His vocabulary…need I say more

8)His ability to stall by doing a jig

7) His recognition that he is disliked and being able to make fun of it at his portrait hanging

6) His ninja shoe dodging skills…without it we would not have the recent video game phenomenon

5) He introduced us to the book, My Pet Goat

4)His ability to make everything controversial…without it we would not have the Michael Moore of today or Fahrenheit 911

3)  His ability to declare victory with banners and speeches…gotta love the mass media attention he commanded..after all “Missions Accomplished”

2) His ability to glare at Putin as if Putin was a little kid who did something wrong…Every world leader likes to be stared at disapprovingly!

1) The fact that a single letter can represent such controversy…”W”

Crazy football, even the beautiful fall, and the winter blues December 23, 2008

Well Monday Night Football was horrible!  Im having mixed feelings about the outcome though…I should be upset that the Packers lost yet another football game, and I am upset…but Im still kinda giddy knowing that a Packers loss kept Minnesota fighting for their lives…I dont ever see myself rooting for Minnesota unless it has beneficial outcomes for my Pack…even then Id be choking as I was rooting for them!  Id rather see the Bears win the division then Minnesota…Sorry Bobby! Now all I have to say is that the Packers better not loose to Detroit and hand them their first win of the season…Id be really upset then!

Well it is looking like the Mexican battle on the Drug Cartels is involving some very interesting individuals now!  Apparently a beauty queen was arrested with 7 others while carrying womens and money in their car in central Mexico…even the beautiful are being used!  Wow…its getting nasty down there in Mexico, and everyone up here is oblivious!

Now I am disturbed…I know that every culture has its quirks, and I am able to accept almost all of them, even the weird and absurd ones, but a Saudi judge recently refused to annul a marriage between an 8-year-old girl and a 47-year-old man, apparently arranged by the girl’s father to settle his outstanding debts.  How can anyone allow an 8year old to be married off! Even if it settles debts!  Shes 8!  Heck I was still being a brat at that age!  There are plenty of 8 year olds that aren’t kids anymore because they were forced to grow up way too fast, but marriage is a whole never level of crazy and unfairness!

Coup in Guinea…Thats not what West Africa needs right now!  I hope it doesn’t turn into a new Liberia…but it doesn’t look promising!

Well, Ive been having some fun with some of my old friends!  And Ive been cooking alot!  I just finished making zucchini bread and cinnamon chips for Xmas eve dinner with the family. And Ive been enjoying the winter weather…Im just sad that its not going to be a white Xmas this year!  I hope I get some snow before I leave!  I want to make snow angels and build a snow man, and maybe go sledding!  Ohhhh and Ice skating…guess I dont need the snow for that one though…

Random Google searches that led to my blog…”crazy proposals” and “cough when freezing”…hmm…not the most random ones, but still good ones!

Well Im off to catch up on WWI readings…wish me luck!

Crazy Putin and the Georgia Crisis, and the Australian Breathalizer December 7, 2008

Dang…and we thought Russia was harsh before… in a quote to the French Media Putin states ” Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili deserved to be hung by his testicles for his role in the August war with Russia”.  Wow!  All I can say is that both parties are equally to blame for this crisis and its probably only really beginning!~ Plus, Im betting most of the guys here in Hawaii would flinch at this comment…reminders of Thanksgiving Day Dirty Jobs episode with the Turkeys testicles comes to mind…

There are already a long list of things you shouldn’t or can’t do drunk.  They often include driving or any kind of vehicle operation, swimming, table dancing…etc, but how about voting? Well Australia is considering making people take breathalizers before voting…well at least on laws that is.  Apparently  State police minister Matt Brown was dumped from his portfolio in September after allegedly “dirty” dancing in his underwear over the chest of a female colleague after a drunken post-budget office party.  Another politician was recorded as saying “Honestly, if you are going to have breathalysers for people driving cranes you should have breathalysers for people writing laws.”  Im gonna have to agree there because I for one dont want to have to cut off  my right foot just because the law says I have too…ok…i know Im random sometimes.

Well I spent some of the afternoon and most of the evening at UH library working on my Mexico paper which has evolved into a never ending project!  Seriously this paper should be an easy write but Im having problems with it!  Ahh! And its due tomorrow!  Oh well…at least I got to see Erik really hungover which was funny!

Random goole search of the day that led to my blog “Bad Boats”…have I blogged abut boats before?  What about Evil boats?  Um…this one is interesting…

PS: I hate my team right now…the Packers have been shooting themselves in the foot all year, and this one broke the camels back so to speak! Arggghhhh!

The wonders of drug testing, anger at Texas, and a unique weapon December 3, 2008

Ok..so I have decided that I am twisted and so need to be stopped!  When I saw that there had been 6 players suspended by the NFL for drug tests, my heart started racing…cause I was hoping ot see 2 names…Pat and Kevin WIlliams…and when I opened up the article, there were those names I was so hoping ot see!!!! Now I know some of you are wondering why I am so twisted and evil hearted…well its simple…Green Bay football.  After the last 2 weeks performances we needed some outside help, and since the Vikings have a 2 game lead on us in the division, the suspension of their two big defensive frontmen means that we may actually have a shot again!   Ahh my heart is racing!  Now pending the court appeal by the Williams’ they may be done for the year!  Giddy dance being done …ok maybe I should make it clear…Im not happy about them being suspended as players, Im just happy what it means for their team, and the chances of my team!

Well, well, well…its nice to see that the Bush administration isn’t completely incomptent (has Hell frozen over?)  Rice is trying to step in and mediate the whole India/Pakistan mess that is boiling ot the surface after the attacks on Mumbai…Good! Last thing we need are two nuclear powers resorting to stupid tactics if you catch my drift…

So, I caught wind of this article on yahoo, and was so mad after reading it…hello its called IO Waivers! Move some of these people out! Now I have another reason to not be a huge fan of Texas…help your MR/DD now!

WEll in a lighter note…kinda…a man was attacked the other night with a knife in California…but don’t worry, he’s ok. Thanks to a Candy Cane…thats right, a Candy Cane! He used it to defend himself against the attacker. FYI…the Candy Cane wasn’t one of those candy ones you eat but rather the 2 foot lawn ornament type!

Well Im off to dive into the world of drugs…Meixcan Drugs that is…ah the wonders of grad school paper writing!

Well in weird science news, you can get your kids genetics tested to determine which sport they might be best at.  Testing the ACTN3 gene can apparently tell if you might be good at endurance, strength, or speed skills. Hmmm…wonder where the mental strengths some in to the equation?

Also on science news, apparently the key ingredient for life was found in space…any guesses what it is?  Nope, not O2…not H2O….its Glycolaldehyde…aka sugar. Well a type of sugar anyways.  Thats right…as a comment to the article states, “we can find a molecule of sugar in space, but can’t find Bin Laden?” Well im not sure about the commentors rationals with the comment, but it does make you wonder how a single molecule can be found in space, yet problems here on Earth can’t be resolved…wow…the wonders of technology.

Now onto a more productive rant…my team sucks!  We are like Jekyll and Hide some days.  We actually played well inthe 2nd half of the game today, but somehow still managed to loose it as Rodgers channelled a little Favre with that interception!  Ahhh! Now im left watching the lead in the NFC North being fought between MIN and CHI tonight…I guess ill have to root for CHI in that game because MIN makes me sick to my stomach! Now in order to have a shot at the playoffs, we need to win all the rest of the games and hope for Min and Chi to falter…after all we are now 2 games back!

Oh well…im channelling my anger into blogging and then studying because if not I will break something!  And can I just say…they shoulda never gotten rid of KGB!
