“Hello everyone!  Its been awhile since Ive been able to update everyone on my travels.  I am in New Orleans right now with Andy’s parents and am really enjoying it!  Ive met all kinds of nice people!  Ive tried Jambalaya and have seen the Old District.  I have been listening o some Jazz music, and really like it.  The sights are nice, but Im getting to do some fun things too…like being on TV…There was a really nice person who is a local news anchor and I was invited to appear on the broadcast!  I hope Aubrey gets to see me on TV!  Maybe I will be able to bring a tape of me home for her.  I also am getting to ride on a Mardi Gras float at some point in the future!  Well Im off to explore some more! Ill update as soon as possible.”

Sally’s Blog:

“Well today was my last day in Hawaii and boy was it windy.  My entire time on the island, and I have never seen winds like these!  I wonder if this is what Hawaiian winters are like?! Kristina will have to let me know since Im heading back to Ohio with pictures and gifts for Aubrey.  I’ve been informed that I will be going to New York and Disney this year!  Im excited!  I wonder if I will get to see Donald Trump, or even Goofy!  I like Goofy! I really want to ride the tea-cups!  I hope I get to do that! And maybe breakfast with Mickey?  Im not sure what is planned but I know it will be fun.  I will miss the sun and the local surfers.  They are nice and taught me how to pier dive and how to boogey board.  But I wasn’t a fan of the sharks.  There was a 6ft tiger shark in the water the other day. I hope I get to keep everyone up to date on what I am doing as I travel. Kristina has offered to keep blogging for me, so as long as my fellow travel companions can help write to her, then everyone will be up to speed on whether or not I get to meet Goofy!.  Or Trump!  I wonder if his hair is real? Well Im off to Ohio, keep you posted!”

“I got to sleep in today!  Yay!  I love sleeping sometimes!  Kristina’s class was cancelled so we went and explored the downtown Honolulu area today. I have discovered that the locals speak a language called pidgin.  I can’t understand them at all even though Kristina reassures me its english.  The only thing I can understand is when the bus driver calls us “sissa” and “bruddah”.  Otherwise, its jibberish!  Ive been having fun with Kristina!  Last friday she took me downtown for First Friday…its basically a giant block party near Fort Street Mall area and I listened to karoake. There was some girl singing ‘These Boots are made for Walking’ in Japanese…it was good! I also saw a Ukulele player too…his hands moved really fast sometimes!  Then we went to Rumfire, a bar and grill in Waikiki.  I had a fun hanging out with all of her friends but sometimes they were talking about things that I so didn’t understand!  Today we went to Aloha Tower and Marketplace.  I got to see boats and the Harbor.  Its nice here.  Im told its cold already back in Ohio.  Im going to need a winter coat when I go home!  I dont think Ill find one here, but maybe Aubrey can get one for me!”

Sally’s Blog:

“Tonight was interesting.  In class Kristina kept getting text messages from everyone back in Ohio telling her about the results of the election…before we had even made it home, it was announced that Obama had won the election and was going to be the next President.  Everyone keeps saying that this means change, but Im just hoping it means I an still keep traveling!  Im not sure what this change will be…maybe I will get to eat something other than sushi again!  We spent the night watching the “talking heads” as Kristina called them, with her roommates Josh and Eric (oh and Yuki…shes nice). Whenever I hear them mention talking heads I think about what the bobble heads would look like if they could talk, not humans.  Im not really understanding this all, but since Im told its historic, I will watch! All I can say is that Kristina really disliked one “talking head” especially, apparently his name is Karl Rove, and she was yelling at the TV alot when he was on.  She likes to yell at the TV alot, but mostly when its football, this is one of the first times Ive seen her yelling at something other than football!  Well, im off to try and learn how to ply Xbox 360.  Wish me luck!”

“Halloween wsa fun!  I have never seen so many people in costume!  Kristina took me to Erik’s where there was a party on his roof, and everyone had fun.  My favorite costumes of the night among her friends was Melanie and her Greenpeace Massacre outfit.  Everywhere Kristina takes me we see or get stopped by Greenpeace people, so her costume was great!  Plus, she brought gummy worms and gummy bears…but I wasn’t allowed to have any because they were full of Vodka.  When we were walking around Waikiki, I saw a little dog all dressed up too!  I was happy to see another dog out and about on Halloween!  He was cute too!  Kristina and I didnt get home until close to 4am, and I am still tired. But I want to come back to Waikiki next year for Halloween! It was fun!”

“Kristina has been sick, and her coughing sounds like shes dying, but that didn’t stop her from trying to entertain me!  Last night was loud.  Her roommates were having too much fun, and then one couldn’t get out of the bathroom.  Im not sure what was really going on, but I didnt get much sleep.  So to make up for it tonight, she took me to Waikiki.  Waikiki is different at night time.  There are some strange people.  Tonight I saw a girl walking around in a German Bavarian outfit carrying a huge glass stein…and its not even Halloween yet!  Also, there were these girls walking around dressed like the madhatters.  That would be a fun costume if I didnt already have one! After doing some people watching we went to this really nice club called the Lotus Room.  It was loud, and Ive never heard that kind of music before. Kristina calls it techno.  There wasn’t much dancing going on though, except Kyle who I think could attempt to dance to anything! He’s funny!  I can’t wait until next friday when everyone will be in costume!  It will be a blast.”

“BZZZZZ….Coffee, coffee, coffee!  Kristina let me drink coffee…and Im wide awake now!  This could be a problem! Ive never had coffee, Ive had wine with Debbie before…but coffee’s new…and I like!  I went to a place called Starbucks tonight and it was good!  I want to go back now, but Kristina has a paper to write. Sh’es not much fun sometimes!  But fun is coming I guess.  Apparently we are going out for Halloween!  And Im already dressed for it, which is good, because the boys informed Kristina tonight she had to wear a costume…she needs to find one still.  But for now Im going to go jump up and down on the bed!”

“Today I spent time at the Loa campus again. I went to that crazy class where the professor makes no sense.  Im not sure I will ever understand philosophy.  I learned some interesting things today, but not in class.  First, not everyone is nice to talk to…Kristina and I met some homeless today who were a little scary.  Second, I got to see the Phillipino Embassy in Hawaii…in fact its just down the road from where Kristina lives.  Third, there are such things as suicidal ants apparently…Ive decided Kristina takes classes because they are wierd, not because they are helpful to her degree.  Well Im excited because I get to go to a grass skirt party next weekend!  But Im disappointed because Josh told me that Id see UFOs on Wednesday..and I didn’t! Maybe one day I will meet the little green guys!”

“Today was fun!  I got to sleep in and then went to the beach in Waikiki with Kristina.  The bus ride was long, but I got to meet all kinds of people!  Kristina says it only took about 40 minutes with all the stops, but it seemed longer!  I understand why she likes the pier so much.  You can watch the locals pier dive and boogy board, and relax.  Today a couple of local kids were teaching some of the tourists how to pier dive, and everyone was having fun doing it.  I wanted to try it, but didn’t want to get my veil wet, so I didn’t.  Also, there were really big rocks down there and I didnt want to get hurt!  I have more travelling to do!  I was able to get a postcard to send back to Aubrey, so hopefully Kristina will help me write it tonight.  I also got to see Diamondhead, and Kapiolani park.  Its really nice there and everyone was friendly!  Kristina is looking a little red, but I came away with no sunburn!  Good, it wouldn’t go with my complexion anyways!  Well Im off to write to Aubrey.  Enjoy the pictures over the next couple of blogs…we took alot today!”
