Happy New Years! Hope everyone stayed up late and had fun with friends and family!  I know our little game night with wine and champagne was a success…lots of wine…alwyas a good thing!  And the entertainment always comed from my friends…and stellas drawing skills of Mt Rushmore…

I wonder what the new year will bring, although its definitely starting off in a bad spot…horrible economy, war in Irag and Afghanistan, disasters around the world, crazy athletes already causing trouble before the first hour of 2009 has passed…well maybe a little before… 2009…definitely the end of 2008. In case you have no clue what Im talking about, Charles Barkley was arrested in AZ. He was pulled over for speeding and a DUI…when asked by the officer why, he said he was on his way to get a blowjob, and that he was pulling around the corner to get one from his passenger…apparently he proceeded to tell the cop he had one a week earlier and it was the best one hes ever had and asked the cop if he thought the girl was hot…um…Charles…i’d expect to hear from divorce lawyers pretty soon… This one ranks up there with Plexico shooting himself…poor athletes…it must be hard to live a life of athletics…what with all that money, and publicity, and of course the chicks…(well unless you are a chick…well…nevermind)

Well the Packers went out with a victory which is better then nothing…however, the Vikings pulled out a win and the NFC North Championship…damn!  Oh well…Im not expecting them to survive round 1 of the playoffs…Go Philly!

So a recent article I read disturbed me a little…Condaleeza Rice believes that soon everyone will be thanking Bush for his service and the actions he took for the US…and doesnt believe that the US is disliked in the world, or that the Bush doctrine hurt the United States foreign policy approach for the future…Um…did an alien suck out her brain and replace it with mush? Well, granted Im sure someone someday will thank Bush for something…Im kinda doubting it will be anytime soon, or for the reasons she believes…granted we are at the end of the Bush years now, so my view may be tainted by recent events and propaganda from the media, but even then I am still betting her theory and beliefs are whack.  So to commemorate this belief, Ive decided to create the top 10 things to thank Bush for…

10) His African dancing…without it, John Oliver, John Stewart, and other comedians would be at a loss for comedic material.

9) His vocabulary…need I say more

8)His ability to stall by doing a jig

7) His recognition that he is disliked and being able to make fun of it at his portrait hanging

6) His ninja shoe dodging skills…without it we would not have the recent video game phenomenon

5) He introduced us to the book, My Pet Goat

4)His ability to make everything controversial…without it we would not have the Michael Moore of today or Fahrenheit 911

3)  His ability to declare victory with banners and speeches…gotta love the mass media attention he commanded..after all “Missions Accomplished”

2) His ability to glare at Putin as if Putin was a little kid who did something wrong…Every world leader likes to be stared at disapprovingly!

1) The fact that a single letter can represent such controversy…”W”

Red duct tape, chicken cordon bleu, and Obamas powerless night December 27, 2008

Gotta love it when power outages across Oahu isn’t the news as much as whether Obama’s Kailua retreat was without power as well….Forget basic info like when to expect power, what events are cancelled, etc when Obama’s in town…after all…the President elect can’t sit in the dark like us mere mortals!  Give me a break news media!  (Ps he did lose power for 11 hours)

So I have been a cooking fiend.  I cooked Chicken Cordon Bleu for 16 people tonight for my Aunts 60th Birthday party, which was a progressive dinner and a surprise.  All went well, and I got to end the night watching my Dad and Uncle attempt to play Guitar Hero on the Wii…now that was funny…too bad I didnt have a video camera available!

I know that people who talk during a movie can be annoying, but apparently someone got so fed up that they shot a man who was talking during a movie in Pennsylvania.  Now Im thinking thats a little extreme…I personally am for carrying around a roll of duct tape…preferabbly the red kind…and think tape should be a first alternative rather than resorting to bullets.  The tape makes a statement, and wont actually hurt anyone…unless you count the red skin and pain from ripping the tape off a face, then I guess it would hurt, but not as bad as being shot.

Well off to read some more…im beginning to resent taking this online class over winter break…stupid me!

Merry Christmas everyone!  Hope all had a great day! So my gifts under the tree were mainly books on the Congo…Yay!  Grad Thesis!  Gotta love gifts that have practical applications.

So Ive eaten too much…I hate the holidays sometimes because of this!  Everyone always brings food over and our fridge is full!  I will be happy when the fridge empties some!

So the strange gift of the year goes to my dad.  He got a BlueRay DVD of an aquarium…yes…it just has fish swimming around.  He likes it because its an aquarium he doesnt have to clean…and I now have pictures of my brother-in-law trying to grab a fish from the screen and being an idiot acting like hes swimming with them…pictures will be posted soon to give everybody a better idea of how ridiculous it looks!  I did say that this was my idea of snorkeling…so thats how the crazy picture taking started.

Off to relax and read…gotta love WWI during the holidays!

Giant ice Santa, airport travel, and a little holiday cheer? December 24, 2008

Well…Im glad I made it in to Ohio before winter weather set in…cause right now many are stranded at airports across the midwest due to winter storms…I tend to be a cursed flyer, and knowing my luck, if I flew on Xmas eve, I would get stuck somewhere!  I can just feel it!  I already hate sitting at airports because of boredom, and Ive had plenty of overnights sleeping on terminal floors, so I can only imagine being stuck on a major holiday in an airport.  I wonder if the airports give out free meals or something?  Probably not since you have to pay for everything now anyways.

I personally love that Mugabe has stated that Zimbabwe is his…um…doesnt the land belong to the people and not one man?  This isnt feudalism anymore! I cant help but wonder if cholera wasn’t spreading through the country and annihalating half the population if there would be a revolt…I mean I know he tends to use intimidation and deadly force to maintain his rule, but eventually the people have to say enough is enough…and for me that would have been over a year ago when the markets offered no food…so when is the breaking point for Zimbabwe?

When did Nazism become holiday centered? It seems that several of the movies out this week are centered around the Nazis…what happened to holiday cheer? Snow? Family fun? Anyone remember Home Alone? Miracle on 31st ST? Heck, even Elf?  I guess Im off to see Valkyrie and the Hitler assassination plot tomorrow…Merry Xmas to me!

I so want to fly to China right now!  It has built the worlds largest Ice Santa!  I want to go see!  Heck, I just want a white Xmass!  But alas, neither will come to pass…booo….

Well Im off to sleep so that Santa can come…yea right.,..Im on the naughty list probably!

Later!

And Merry Xmas…

Crazy football, even the beautiful fall, and the winter blues December 23, 2008

Well Monday Night Football was horrible!  Im having mixed feelings about the outcome though…I should be upset that the Packers lost yet another football game, and I am upset…but Im still kinda giddy knowing that a Packers loss kept Minnesota fighting for their lives…I dont ever see myself rooting for Minnesota unless it has beneficial outcomes for my Pack…even then Id be choking as I was rooting for them!  Id rather see the Bears win the division then Minnesota…Sorry Bobby! Now all I have to say is that the Packers better not loose to Detroit and hand them their first win of the season…Id be really upset then!

Well it is looking like the Mexican battle on the Drug Cartels is involving some very interesting individuals now!  Apparently a beauty queen was arrested with 7 others while carrying womens and money in their car in central Mexico…even the beautiful are being used!  Wow…its getting nasty down there in Mexico, and everyone up here is oblivious!

Now I am disturbed…I know that every culture has its quirks, and I am able to accept almost all of them, even the weird and absurd ones, but a Saudi judge recently refused to annul a marriage between an 8-year-old girl and a 47-year-old man, apparently arranged by the girl’s father to settle his outstanding debts.  How can anyone allow an 8year old to be married off! Even if it settles debts!  Shes 8!  Heck I was still being a brat at that age!  There are plenty of 8 year olds that aren’t kids anymore because they were forced to grow up way too fast, but marriage is a whole never level of crazy and unfairness!

Coup in Guinea…Thats not what West Africa needs right now!  I hope it doesn’t turn into a new Liberia…but it doesn’t look promising!

Well, Ive been having some fun with some of my old friends!  And Ive been cooking alot!  I just finished making zucchini bread and cinnamon chips for Xmas eve dinner with the family. And Ive been enjoying the winter weather…Im just sad that its not going to be a white Xmas this year!  I hope I get some snow before I leave!  I want to make snow angels and build a snow man, and maybe go sledding!  Ohhhh and Ice skating…guess I dont need the snow for that one though…

Random Google searches that led to my blog…”crazy proposals” and “cough when freezing”…hmm…not the most random ones, but still good ones!

Well Im off to catch up on WWI readings…wish me luck!

Last night was fun.  I got to see my friends and celebrate with them…the tropical Xmas theme was a success…a little weird, but a success.  The tropical theme wasnt helped by the appearance of sleet and ice, but the slushie mix I made helped us forget the weather.

I got my grades back for my first semester….I got an A- and 3 B+’s   I guess its okay, but I would have liked at least 1 more A!  I will just have to work harder now and next semester…Fun times!

Winter has set in…now I really like the cold weather and have missed it in Hawaii, but todays weather is a little cold!  Its in the negtives with the wind-chill factor!  Im kinda longing for a little warm weather for once!  But the cold hasnt stopped me from wearing capri’s and sandals outside!  Hell has officially frozen over if Im wanting warmer weather!

Well todays football was good!  Minnesota lost!  I will always root for that to happen! Now if only Green Bay will win a game on Monday!  Go Packers!

Im off to read WWI…

Ahh..its 3am and I just finished making Buckeyes and Raspberry Fudge for tomorrow/today…depending on how you look at it!  Im exhausted…Ive actually been sleeping since I landed here in Ohio…I guess my body and mind are winding down and trying to rest from the past 4 months!

I went to Chumps with a few people from High School tonight…it was fine…Good to see some of them again!  Afterwards I discovered that there is a new wine shop/wine and beer bar in downtown Miamisburg. First…im shocked because downtown Miamisburg, let alone Miamisburg itself, isnt exactly the wine connoisseurs local! Secondly, it was actuall really cool…it definately would be a good palce to go drink a glass of wine and read…I think I need to start liking wine, or at least be able to tolerate it, because I would enjo sitting with friends in a place like that and relaxing.

I was able to see Em today!  My hair desperately needed a touch-up and she did a wonderful job as usual. My hair is now Black, Purple, and Red.  Gotta love the oddity that is me!

Well Im off to sleep and then to Zumba in a few hours….and then of course to the cookie shop where I will be doing a pan cookie with a surfing Santa holding a beer….Gotta love Stella’s theme idea for a tropical Xmas party because its going to allow my creativity to flow!  And the party itself should offer all kinds of fun and probably a very drunk me!

Well its nice to be back in Ohio…the weather is more up my alley…cold and icy!  Gotta love the winter months!  Well Ive been keeping busy with volunteering at APSI…and working a little at the cookie shop…now if only I can get some of my reading done for class then Ill be happy! Its been good to see some of my friends again!  Im looking forward to thie weekend when there will be some major partying going on!!!  Expect a drunken blog on saturday or sunday!

Zumba kicked my butt tonight!  Michelle had to thrown some fun “low” and “Work that” into the mix…the best part is that she doesnt even remember doing “low” at the wedding either!  It got the entire class laughing at her, which was priceless!  Ive missed Zumba, and need to find something similar when I get back home to Hawaii.

In fun news…someone has made a video game out of the President Bush shoe incident…You get points for hitting him with the shoe, and more if its in the face…the President can’t even log onto the internet now without causing a ruckus! Oh well….ill have to try and see if I can take away those ninja skills he seemed to have in real life, ahh the art of shoe dodging!

Well Im off to make Buckeyes…yum…
